Our Greens Are Being Aerated

Important course maintenance: Greens are being aerated and sanded for optimal playing quality.

On September 13, 2021, we are carrying out the most important maintenance measure of the year on our greens: aeration. This process ventilates the soil, loosens compaction, and allows roots to grow optimally. Combined with sanding, we ensure first-class playing conditions in the long term.

Improved water absorption

During aeration, special machines punch small holes into the soil. These holes allow air, water, and nutrients to reach the roots directly. At the same time, the soil structure is loosened, counteracting compaction caused by play and weather.

After aeration, the greens are covered with fine sand. This sand fills the holes and sustainably improves drainage. The sand also promotes a healthy microclimate in the soil and prevents waterlogging. Within a few days, the sand is worked into the turf and barely visible.

The greens remain playable during aeration, albeit with slight restrictions. We ask for your understanding that the surfaces may be somewhat sandier in the first few days after the treatment. This temporary inconvenience is the foundation for perfect greens in the coming season.

See for yourself the quality of our greens – maintained to the highest standards.
