Florentyna Parker – An Ice Cold Putter

After a short home holiday in Hamburg, Golf Lounge Resort ambassador Florentyna Parker has once again set off for South Africa for the second stage of the season. First destination: Serengeti Estates – according to South African golf legend Retief Goosen, one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country.

A solid opening round of Par 72 was unfortunately followed by two rounds over par (75, 74) at the ABSA Ladies Invitational, worth 60,000 euros. The 75 on the second day was particularly painful for Flory. "14 out of 14 fairways hit, 14 out of 18 greens in regulation and then finishing with a 75 in the clubhouse – that's frustrating," said Flory after the round.

The reason for the disappointing score was as quickly found as it was obvious. Despite midsummer temperatures, the putter was – all week – ice cold. 35 putts on the second day and 96 putts in total over the three tournament days were too many to challenge at the top. In the end, Florentyna finished in a tie for 25th place at 5 over par.

South African Casandra Alexander won with rounds of 68, 70, 66 (-12) strokes. And by the way: the winner only needed 85 putts for her triumph! At the next tournament, the Jabra Ladies Classic (April 10-12) at Glendower Golf Club, Alexander will start as defending champion.

Flory's father Tim Parker is one of the most popular teaching pros in northern Germany and teaches at Gut Kaden Golf and Land Club. Her brother Ben, after his time as a playing pro (European Tour, Challenge Tour), has followed in his father's footsteps and currently works as a coach at GC Gut Lärchenhof near Cologne. Flory's home club before her professional career was GC Gut Waldhof.
