On 14 September, the Hamburg Golf Association invited girls to Golf Lounge for a taster day as part of the "Golf Like a Girl" format. 50 girls accepted the invitation, and for a good part of the group it was their first contact with a golf club altogether.
How the day was set up
The day was deliberately kept open: no rigid course programme, but stations on the range, putting attempts on the green and try-outs on the short course. The coaching team on site was meant to guide rather than lecture – show the basic stance, set a rhythm and let the participants figure the rest out themselves. This approach suits a taster format well: those who discover that a shot works usually come back.
Formats like "Golf Like a Girl" matter, because the share of women in many golf clubs is still noticeably lower than that of men. A low-threshold, shared day removes barriers that brochures and campaigns rarely reach. Thanks to the HGV for the organisation, and to the girls for the noticeably good atmosphere that afternoon.
