EV charging station Hamburg golf course: First charging station on a light pole in the Hanseatic city. Hit balls – charge cars!

Golf Lounge put an EV charging station into operation in Hamburg that was, at the time of installation, something of a first: it was mounted directly on an existing light pole in the car park – to the best of our knowledge, the first implementation of this type in the Hanseatic city.

Why that mattered

Classic charging stations require their own trench, their own foundations and often a noticeable structural change. Retrofitting on an existing light pole considerably reduces this effort, because the power supply is already in place. For locations with limited space and the wish not to set additional concrete plinths, it is a pragmatic approach.

For our guests the consequence was tangible: anyone arriving by EV for a range session, a course or the restaurant can charge during their stay. "Hit balls, charge the car" is unspectacular as an idea, but in practice it is exactly the kind of everyday solution that helps electromobility gain traction in the city. The article shows photos of the installation and puts the step into context of our sustainability programme at the time, which has evolved since.
